About J-Cut
J-Cut is a free showreel site for freelance video editors. In J-Cut the reel is the index: it plays at the top, the credit list next to it follows along, and clicking a credit cuts the reel straight to that project. Each project page plays only its own part of the same reel, on a loop.
What you get
- The full Framer project: Home (reel, selected work, credits, about, contact), a work page per project (CMS) and a 404 page
- Reel Player (code component): one MP4 for the whole reel, frame-accurate timecode at 24, 25 or 30 fps, a scrub bar with a tick per project, J / K / L keys and fullscreen. It autoplays muted on the home page
- Reel Cue (code component): the credit rows next to the player. The project on screen lights up with a progress bar; click a row to cut the reel to it
- Work CMS with 8 sample projects: client, director, year, role, format, where it ran, summary, credits, poster, watch link and Reel In / Reel Out timecodes
- Next Project reference field: each work page links to the next project; the last points back to the first
- Credits table, About with a tools list, contact with email and social links, accessible phone menu
- Desktop, tablet and phone layouts. Satoshi and JetBrains Mono
Good to know
- The demo reel is free Mixkit stock footage cut by NS. Studio. Replace it with your own reel
- The demo reel is silent, so no mute button shows. Turn on "Sound Button" in the Reel Player if your reel has sound
- You upload your reel as one MP4 and type each project's Reel In / Reel Out in the CMS. It does not read chapters from Vimeo or YouTube. 720p H.264 under about 20 MB works best
- The editor, projects, clients, directors and credits are made up. The About portrait is an Unsplash photo
- J jumps back 5 seconds; there is no reverse playback. Autoplay is off for visitors who prefer reduced motion
- No contact form or blog
- A free Framer account can remix and publish it on a Framer subdomain; a custom domain needs a paid Framer plan
